Joshua Aker is currently enrolled at Hickory Ridge High School in Harrisburg, North Carolina, and aspires to pursue a degree in Music Business or Professional Music. He is the proud son of Maurice and Astra Aker, who reside in Harrisburg, North Carolina. From an early age, Joshua has demonstrated a deep passion for music and a commitment to personal growth through creativity, leadership, and service.

Joshua is a passionate, natural-born leader who is deeply committed to those he loves, helping others, and all things music. A self-taught musician, he draws motivation from transforming challenges into opportunities and using setbacks as fuel to succeed. His greatest strength lies in his resilience, reflected in his ability to remain focused, determined, and driven as he works to grow and excel in everything he sets his mind to. 

At school, Joshua has demonstrated leadership and excellence through active involvement in several organizations. He has been a member of the Black Student Union for the past three years and served as Treasurer during his sophomore year. He is also a member of the Jazz Band. Outside of school, Joshua is a member of Alpha Academy, serves as Lead Youth Usher at The Park Church Charlotte, performs as second guitarist in The Park Church Charlotte band, and accepts additional musical performance opportunities as they arise. He is a two-time participant in the Microsoft Summer Cohort and has been employed at McDonald’s for the past 2 years.

Joshua’s commitment to service is evident through his community involvement with The Park Church MT 25:40 mobile unit, which supports individuals experiencing homelessness, and Lifeline Charlotte, where he has helped pack meals for families in need. These experiences have strengthened his empathy, compassion, and desire to serve others. 

Joshua plans to pursue a major in Music Business and Performance.  His current top consideration for school is Berklee College of Music.  His goal is to become a professional performer while also helping other musicians understand and navigate the business side of the music industry, ensuring they are protected and empowered in their careers.
