MISSION
The mission of the B.E.A.M. Foundation is to empower high-risk, underserved minority male youth by promoting community service, leadership development, and educational opportunities. Through mentorship, guidance, and transformative programs, we strive to create pathways for young men to overcome challenges, realize their potential, and become leaders in their communities.
HISTORY
The B.E.A.M. Foundation was established in 1997, rooted in a commitment to addressing the unique challenges faced by young Black males. Initially founded as the Beta Nu Lambda Foundation by members of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated, the organization began as a small group of volunteers mentoring underprivileged boys and young men.
Recognizing the vast disparities in educational access and post-high school opportunities between Black and White students, the group expanded its efforts and rebranded as the B.E.A.M. (Building Excellence Affirming Manhood) Foundation. Since its inception, the foundation has impacted the lives of over 1,000 young Black men, providing mentorship, educational resources, and opportunities to bridge gaps and promote racial equity in education.
Today, the B.E.A.M. Foundation continues to stand as a pillar of support, offering innovative programs such as Alpha Academy, Alpha Beautillion, Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts, Coding Academy, Pharaohs and Project Alpha, all designed to empower young men to excel academically, socially, and professionally.
VISION
Our vision is to build a brighter future, one mind at a time. We aim to inspire young Black males to engage in a journey of growth and self-discovery, embracing the mission of the B.E.A.M. Foundation while striving to fulfill their highest potential. Through mentorship, education, and exposure to transformative opportunities, we envision a generation of leaders who will uplift their communities, achieve their dreams, and model excellence for others to follow.
