Nicholas Johnson is a passionate, hard-working student currently enrolled at Merancas Middle College. Having additionally studied at Hopewell High School, his diligence, perseverance, and leadership have been displayed throughout his academic journey thus far. These traits have been embodied not only in his aspirations to the scientific field, but also in his commitment to his additional athletic and musical passions as well.

Nicholas actively furthers these values through his engagement in servant leadership at school. He has focused on community service and uplifting school spirit through his previous recognition as a Hopewell Titan Man of Honor, as well as through his induction into the National Honor Society. Moreover, he has epitomized the role of a driven athlete as a competitive swimmer and diver at Hopewell High School, being recognized for his excellence in swimming through various awards such as the Coaches award for first year swimmers and Athlete of the Week.

Outside of the classroom, he has continually fueled his passion for swimming through the Chapel Cove Marlins and Stephen’s Grove Stingrays summer swimming leagues. A compassionate scholar, Nicholas has shown his commitment to scientific endeavors through his work in the Advanced Space Academy – collaborating with his team to win the Academy’s  Outstanding Team Award – as well as through participation in the University of North Carolina at Charlotte’s Engineering Camp. Lastly, Nicholas makes his mark in the music arena as a young musician with the Charlotte Symphony Youth Orchestra, and in the University of North Carolina at Greensboro’s Summer Music Camp as an orchestral member as well.

With aspirations to study Aerospace Engineering and pursue a career as an Aerospace Engineer at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, Nicholas’ academic considerations include North Carolina State University, North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, and the University of Alabama. He is eager to continue his athletic pursuits as he joins a collegiate community where he can thrive and progress toward even greater heights going forward.
